Our best recommendation for the proper cleaning of your leather bag is to take it to a trusted leather cleaner. Below are a few general guidelines.
Repeated WATER exposure can stretch leather. If your bag does get wet, let it dry at room temperature. Direct heat (like a blow drier) strips the leather of its natural oils which leads to cracks. In the unfortunate event of leather drying/cracking, replenish oils by applying a high-quality conditioner.
Most persistent stains will come off with a little soap and water.
If you decide to use a leather protector/care/conditioner/soap, test an inconspicuous area first.
Red wine or ink stains should be looked at by a professional sooner than later (so that the stain has less time to set in.)
